Sow a Seed, Support a Scholar! Visit our GoFundMe!

Seed Sowers & Storytellers is an afterschool program for scholars in Grades K-6 from School #33 in the Beechwood neighborhood. This community-based program is designed to celebrate our youth and neighborhood, to work together to build our collective futures while also honoring our legacies.

Two days a week, Freedom Scholars Leaders will meet Seed Sower at School #33 dismissal. Together, we will walk up Rosewood Ave. to St. Mark’s & St. John’s Church, exploring and adopting the street as our classroom and neighborhood. As we walk and spend time in SMSJ gardens and classrooms, our Seed Sowers will plant seeds, gather stories, and read books that reflect our cultures and histories as we grow our community together.

This community-based program has been developed through a collaborative of Freedom Scholars Learning Center, SMSJ, School #33 and Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H Program.
