Junior Servant Leaders are young adults (between the ages of 16-20) who are responsible for assisting with the care and nurturing of the scholars at Freedom Scholars Learning Center after-school program site. They are responsible for supporting the facilitation of the Integrated Reading Curriculum in a classroom setting, while also supporting outside facilitators and building relationships with students, families and the community. Junior Servant Leaders should be committed to the goals of FSLC, able to work collaboratively with all program constituents and be familiar with the culture and dynamics of the community.
College-age students and recent graduates play a vital role in the FSLC Afterschool Program. Servant Leader Interns are responsible for the direct care, supervision, and support of participating scholars throughout the school year.
Utilizing the Integrated Reading Curriculum, they facilitate classroom instruction, support reading and literacy development, lead Harambee, assist with enrichment activities, and help foster a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment for scholars.
The 1-on-1 Aide Specialist plays an important role in supporting scholars who may need additional academic, behavioral, social-emotional, physical, communication, or transition support during the Seed Sowers & Storytellers Afterschool Program. This role helps ensure that every scholar can participate safely, fully, and meaningfully in the life of the program.
Working closely with Servant Leaders, Junior Servant Leaders, families, and program leadership, the 1-on-1 Aide Specialist provides individualized support while helping to foster a safe, affirming, and inclusive learning environment.
The Grant Writer manages communications and application materials related to requesting grant funding for Freedom Scholars Learning Center. This position works closely with the Executive Director, program accountant and FSLC Board. This position is hybrid remote and in-person, slated for 6-10 hours per week with a flexible schedule to be agreed upon by the candidate and organization. An ideal candidate for this position is excited about education, and is committed to equity, inclusion and justice.
